I'm sorry no I don't. But I wouldn't mind seeing if I can find it in the near future. In fact a forum member is visiting me and a large beer specialist today, and I wil ask him to look for it.

EBC

In Bruges, there is a small café in a small street called de Garre.

This beer is brewed for them bij the BIOS brewery in Ertvelde, also known as Van Steenberghe.

I remember it as a strong beer with a thick foamy head. But it has been some years ago...

http://www.vansteenberge.com/

It is the same beer as Piraat. Maybe you can find the recipe for that one...

OK!

If you get something ... I'll be very happy!

Though I have not brewed it, this recipe looks close to what I think Piraat tastes like. I assume it is for 5 gallons.
 :bijdrage_forum:
14 lbs. Belgian Pils
.25 lbs. Acidulated Malt
1 lbs. Midwest Wheat Malt
1.5 lbs. Honey
.75 lbs. Corn Flaked

.5 oz. Cascade (Whole, 5.50 %AA) boiled 0 min.
2 oz. Liberty (Whole, 4.1 %AA) boiled 90 min.
1 oz. Cascade (Whole, 5.50 %AA) boiled 15 min.

1/2 ounces Corriander, ground
1 ounces Sweet Orange zest, fresh

Yeast : Wyeast 3787 Trappist High Gravity info

No way!
If you brew this, you get a Westmalle.
The yeast is very important.

You mast have a bottle from the brewery.
Piraat, Gulden Draak etc...

Whithout the yeast; no clone.

Caspar

I think you should use the Duvel yeast (Wyeast Belgian Strong Ale) if you want to brew a Piraat clone.

Certainly better than Westmalle, but surely not suitable for a BIOS clone. Like Hopmans says, try and get a bottle of Van Steenberge beer and cultivate the yeast sediment.

OK!
I'll find a bottle to cultivate yeast.

and the recipe is good?

EBC

Citaat van: Wamser op 09-12-2010  13:08 uand the recipe is good?

I would not use Cascade hops. I would go for a European hop. East Kent Goldings, Fuggle/Styrian Goldings, Hallertau.

Use the coriander and orange peel sparingly. Better too little than to much.

Liemingbrouwer

There is another beer that is the same as Garre;
Dorre van Dormaal is generally served in the region around Zoutleeuw.
Served in the same glass.
Brewed by the same brewery.
And almost similar in taste and view ...
